Our family has had roots here for generations, ever since the late 1800's. Originally, the Farley family, maternal Grandfather (Thomas Joseph) of Joan Aiken (née Lyons) were around here and later acquired in part by Tánaiste Frank Aiken in the mid-1900's. Frank intended to have a northside hub for his southside farm adjacent to Sandyford village, now known as Aiken's village.
The Ward Golf Centre was constructed and opened by Frank's youngest son Loclann together with his wife Joan on the 4th of July 1982. Loclann had the privilege to become European Tour Range Manager in Ireland from 1984 to 2007. This also included the honor to manage the practice range for the only Ryder Cup ever to be hosted in Ireland during 2006.
Contracted to the European tour Loclann completed in excess of 70 tournaments in Ireland.
